On September 24, 2024, ULK Gisenyi Campus had the distinct honor of welcoming staff members from the U.S. Embassy. Their visit aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the Embassy and the campus, with a particular emphasis on supporting the ULK Gisenyi English Club.
During the visit, DVCA Lecturer Frank HAGUMIMANA outlined a five-year strategic vision for ULK Gisenyi Campus, emphasizing several key priorities. He highlighted the commitment to academic excellence through the updating of curricula and the promotion of research initiatives. He also discussed plans for infrastructure development, focusing on expanding facilities and integrating advanced technologies to enhance the learning environment. Additionally, he addressed the importance of student support, proposing enhancements to financial aid and scholarship opportunities for underprivileged students. Furthermore, HAGUMIMANA emphasized the need for global partnerships, aiming to foster collaborations with international universities for exchange programs and research opportunities. Finally, he pointed out the significance of community engagement, advocating for strengthened local service initiatives and social responsibility efforts.
The team leader highlighted that a significant aim of their visit was to support education by facilitating programs and workshops designed to enhance English language skills, leadership development, and academic knowledge. She emphasized the importance of both educational and cultural exchanges, fostering mutual understanding between Rwandans and Americans through events, discussions, and collaborative projects.
